Iyengar Yoga is a method of instruction set forth by yoga master BKS Iyengar, (1918-2014) whose many texts include the classic Light on Yoga. He is responsible for spreading the art and philosophy of yoga during a time when ‘yoga’ was unknown. Yoga has gained huge popularity, due, in great part, to his efforts. Called the “Michelangelo of yoga” and named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people, B. K. S. Iyengar’s legacy universally acknowledges him as a genius on the subject of Yoga.

About the Classes
Beginning Classes: Standing poses, seated poses, safe inversions, twists, and reclining postures, individually tailored to accommodate.
Continuing Classes: Standing poses, inversions, twists, forward bends, backward bends & restoratives. 8-12 weeks of beginning Iyengar yoga required.
Mixed Level: This all level class tailors your practice to individual needs. All levels welcome!
Fundamentals: Learn how basic poses evolve internal focus, bringing a natural path to progress. All levels welcome!

Iyengar Yoga classes are instructional and presented through a vigorous, yet safe, approach. This method incorporates asanas (poses) and pranayama (rhythmic breathing exercises) introduced with clear instruction geared towards people of all ages, health conditions, and levels of practice. Certified teachers are rigorously trained and held to a high standard, earning different levels of certification through years of training and life long study. The certification mark is your guarantee of a safe and effective yoga.
What is Yoga? Yoga is an ancient system that teaches an individual to reach the highest potential from within one’s self.
Iyengar Yoga is known for: Alignment – Practicing alignment during asanas resolves structural imbalances. Props – Using props safely and effectively develops depth and perception giving an understanding of the asana Sequencing – Proper sequencing provides relief for health problems
Do I have to be fit to participate? No. Classes are designed to aid fitness, and the teachers are trained to handle many levels of physical capacity.
How should I prepare for classes? Refrain from eating 2 hours before class. Wear comfortable clothes, no baggy pants. No heavy perfumes please.
