Iyengar Yoga Online Public Classes

Asanas and pranayama promote involution, increasing our sensitivity to body, mind, and breath. Profoundly quieting, this class cultivates self-awareness and one-pointed mind.

SAT Oct 3 @ 9 – 11:00 am CST – Mining for Light – $35
Standing poses create a base of stability and mobility for practice of the many facets of backbends. Backbends inspire courage, alleviate depression, and elevate the consciousness of mind and spine!

SAT Oct 3 @ 2:30 – 4:30 pm CST – Search for Balance – $35
Explore the forces of gravity: learn to work with and against them. Balancing asanas build strength and develop agility, while accessing inroads to the powers of concentration. Valuable and accessible for all ages and abilities.

Iyengar Yoga Online Teacher Training

SUN Oct 4 @ 8:30 am – 2 pm CST

For CIYTs and Those Preparing for Level I Assessment

The workshop will focus on the core of Iyengar Yoga teaching under both the old and the revised Iyengar Yoga assessment and certification systems — concise and effective language, short clear demonstrations, linking, and the use of philosophy appropriate to the level of the students. The workshop will also address how to teach effectively when unable to make physical adjustments or when virtual learning is necessary.

Students registered for this teacher training workshop will have access to a recording of it for 4 days after the workshop ends.

Mary Reilly began her studies of Iyengar Yoga in 1978 in Ann Arbor after graduating from the University of Michigan. She was among the early group of practitioners in the Midwest to be certified to teach and was personally granted an Intermediate Senior 2 credential by B.K.S. Iyengar in 2012. Mary has directed North Woods Yoga, the Northern Michigan Studio since 1986, served as Chair of Certification for the IYNAUS from 2009 to 2013, and studies regularly at RIMYI in Pune India, most recently in November of 2018. Mary’s enthusiasm, clarity and precision shine through her teaching; she aims to help students overcome obstacles to achieve their full potential.
